Your questions, answered straight
Owning it
Who owns it?
You do. It is set up in your own accounts, under your own name and web address: your hosting, your card payments and your email. We build it and you approve it. There is no commission and no fee on your payments.
If you pay by instalments, everything passes to you with the final payment.
Can I leave?
Yes, at any time. There is nothing to move, because it is already in your accounts. There is no exit fee and no notice period, and the care plan is optional, with no minimum term.
If you are paying by instalments, the balance you agreed stays due. You can download your records from your back office in one click.
What happens if The Finisher closes?
Your website and back office carry on running, because they sit in your accounts, not ours. You have a plain-English handbook, and any developer who knows the tools can look after them.
We keep access to your hosting and email accounts so we can look after them for you, and you can remove it at any time.
Why "The Finisher"?
You finish every appointment with care: the last rep, the line-up, the final brush of the coat, the last pass of the needle. Nobody does that for your business. You've built it. We finish it.
That's the name, and even the full stop is on purpose.
How is my clients' information kept safe?
Answers to health questions are encrypted, your records sit in your own hosting account, and an encrypted backup is made every month.
Money
Why pay once, rather than monthly?
A booking app charges you every month for as long as you're in business, and some take commission on bookings too. The Finisher is one set-up fee, with no commission and no monthly fee to us unless you choose the care plan.
Running costs are often just your domain name each year.
What does it cost to run, and who do I pay?
You pay each provider directly, at their price, and we add nothing.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes. You go live on the day your first monthly payment is taken, and the rest are collected automatically.
Do I need the care plan?
No. It's set up once and runs itself. The only thing to remember is your domain's yearly renewal. Take the care plan if you'd like updates, small changes, help by email, domain renewal help and a quarterly check-in.
Without it, everything is still yours, and any change is priced on its own.
Getting started
How long does set-up take?
Usually about two weeks from order to go-live, sooner if your prices and photos are ready.
What do I need to bring?
Your services and prices, photos of your work, any branding you already have, your client list if you have one, and your web address if you have one, or an idea for one.
What about my web address?
- If you already have one, keep it. At go-live we connect it to your own Cloudflare account and check your email settings have come across before we switch; it stays registered where it is.
- If you haven't got one yet, we check the name is free and walk you through buying it in your Cloudflare account, with your own card, at the provider's price.
- Either way it is in your name, you renew it each year, and your back office reminds you before it is due.
Do I need to be good with technology?
No. We set everything up with you on video, step by step, and show you how it works. If you can use Instagram, you can use this.
Do we meet in person?
No, everything happens on video: your free chat, your set-up and your handover, wherever you are in the UK.
What if my craft isn't listed?
Tell us what you do. If you work alone and by appointment, there's a good chance it fits, and we'll tell you honestly if it doesn't.
What if I don't like the design?
You see two different looks by private link, choose one, and we make a round of changes. Love neither, and we'll revise the closer one once. If that still isn't right, your deposit comes back in full.
Once you have chosen a look, the deposit is no longer refundable.
Can I bring my client list across?
Yes. Your clients, their upcoming bookings and past visits come across from your current system as part of set-up. Health answers, signed forms, private notes and formulas don't, so clients fill in your new form before their next visit.
Coaches' clients part-way through a block come across too.
Day to day
Does it work if I travel to my clients?
Yes. The diary leaves travel time between your visits, and your website tells clients you come to them.
Will my cancellation policy still work?
Yes. We set your notice period and your late-cancellation charge, either a percentage or a kept deposit, to match how you run it now.
Do I need a new email address?
No. Emails to your clients come from your own web address, and replies go to the inbox you already use.
Can I have the footer credit removed?
Yes. If you'd rather launch without it, say so before go-live. After that, removing it is a change like any other.
Will my clients need an app?
No. They book on your website and get their confirmations, reminders and links to their forms by email or text. There is nothing to download.
Who is behind this
I'm Ian Sharpe. I spent twenty years helping large organisations get their systems right, then built one for my wife's nail studio. More about me →
You've done the hard part. Let's finish the rest.
